The History of the Mickey Mouse Watch

!±8± The History of the Mickey Mouse Watch

The first Mickey Mouse watch was made way back in 1933 by the Ingersoll Waterbury Clock Co. of Waterbury and was a single handed rescue of the company from bankruptcy by Mickey! A joint venture was formed between the failing watch manufacturer and the rising star of the movie world, Walt Disney Productions. This brought about the production of the very first 'Mickey Mouse Watch' for boys in 1933. Launched in Chicago, by the genius promoter Herman Kamen who was brought in by Walt Disney, to exploit the Disney brand via the powerful icon of Mickey Mouse. This proved to be hugely beneficial to both Ingersoll and Walt Disney...

Ingersoll manufactured the original watch which was originally priced at .25 and later lowered to .95. A pocket watch soon followed and this was priced at .50. The first watch was manufactured with a round bezel and had three little Mickeys on a rotating disk, the disk moved around in steady increments with each second. This famous watch has been in continuous production in some form since 1933. Somewhat sacrilegiously in the 1960's Mickey's figure did not even appear on the watch at all being replaced with the words, "Mickey Mouse" merely written on the watch face.

Ingersoll manufactured Mickey Mouse watches through out the 1940s and 1950s and in the 1960s Ingersoll became US Time which eventually ended up as Timex. In tune with the age, they went about designing new classics such as the iconic Mod Watches. A rare and much sought after watch was the backwards Goofy, manufactured by Helbros. Somewhat quixotically the numbers were placed in backwards order to accommodate Goofy's hands moving backwards a little difficult for learning to tell the time! As soon as they appeared in 1972 the watches gained a cult status. The original cost of the watch was .95 but by the mid 1990s enthusiastic collectors were willing to pay upwards of 0. Eventually, several different manufacturers were licensed to make Disney watches, starting with Bradley in 1972 followed in 1987, Lorus. Today some of the most well known watch makers are proud to be associated with Mickey Mouse and his friends including Seiko, Fossil, and Colibri.

Mickey Mouse waffle iron

!±8± Mickey Mouse waffle iron

I love waffles. I love Mickey Mouse. But then again, who does not like these two things? I can not name a single person who has a vendetta against Mickey or a stack of waffles. So when I heard that it's a waffle iron waffle-shaped head that Mickey did, I knew that I could not have this opportunity, a unique piece of history in my house.

I like the breakfast for my family every weekend, without distractions of any kind: no cell phones,Players on the internet, friends, television or MP3 are not allowed. When my children were small children, have enjoyed breakfast and first of all, get off at a bus stop. But now that I'm grown up, can not have breakfast as much as they did. So I decided that I need to buy a Mickey Mouse waffle iron, maybe my kids interested again. Mickey was their favorite cartoon, after all, especially after we took the best trip ever Family: Disney World. Since then we haveEveryone has a little 'go Mickey love. This is why it is so long to make a purchase. But I could not get a single station.

After I bought my first Mickey Mouse waffle iron, I was watching a local news broadcast showed a man, a collection of memorabilia that included cartoon characters that we had learned to know and love and all. One of the things in his collection was an old toaster Snoopy, that if he wanted thousands of dollars for his tiny might sellInvestment. The man said he never even once the toaster, but he kept sitting in his house as a work of art in a museum. I decided that maybe I should do the same. After all, it was Mickey waffle iron that I bought relatively inexpensive and would not return evil for me or my children. So now I have two: one to cook for my family and the one on display in our game room. There is also a great conversation piece!

As you can see,an iron Mickey waffles is one of the wisest things I ever bought for my family. Maybe you could do the same with you and your family to do.
